I left the military towards the end of 1991 before Saudi Arabia and Kuwait decided to issue the Gulf War soldiers that served in Desert Storm the medals. I tried pursuing it a few times, but as anyone knows when it comes to Government endeavors that it usually takes multiple phone calls and lots of paperwork. But recently I found out that the requests could 
be submitted online. So it is indeed more streamlined. It took nearly 4 months but my medals were sent. I was primarily interested in the Kuwait Liberation medals but received those and a re-issue of many others like my Army Commendation Medal as well. Here’s the picture of the liberation medal that Saudi Arabia presented. I thought it was a really nice looking medal.
