As we did in 2006, we celebrated Valentine’s Day this year on the weekend rather than on the 14th. We made a nice Italian Dinner with Lasagna, great music ,and wine. The children enjoyed making cards and their own chocolate designs using a machine that Heike received as a gift. We had a great time.
Heike actually received her gift from me early, the beautiful Virtual Island property that I purchased in Second Life.
That was the expensive item, but I also got her some Salsa dance balls which she had been wanting. We’re still planning on selling our other smaller parcel of land later on. The pose balls enact an animation loop that allows your avatars to dance the Salsa together (something I really can’t do in real life … also known as just RL in Second Life).
Heike has also come a long ways in making her avatar look more like her. If you compare it to our other earlier blog entries concerning SL, you can tell the difference. Heike’s Mom has gotten her virtual house and land looking nice as well and the two have gone shopping together a number of times for clothes and furniture. It really helps Heike cope with her homesickness being ‘virtually’ close to her Mom.
